Laser Body Contouring
What is Sculpsure?
SculpSure is an FDA-approved, non-invasive, body-contouring treatment. It is used to reduce fat cells on the abdomen, flanks, back, and inner and outer thighs. The laser treatment uses controlled, light-based technology to contour the body. SculpSure is similar to other fat reduction treatments which use technology to target and damage fat cells, allowing your body to naturally process them away. SculpSure uses a flat, non-suction applicator to bring the temperature of the fat up to 42°C to 47°C which is a destructive temperature, while the skin is kept safe and cool.
How does Sculpsure Laser Lipolysis work?
SculpSure is a type of lipolysis. Lipolysis is a fat-eliminating process. SculpSure uses laser technology to “melt” fat cells away. At your appointment, you will be seated in a comfortable, reclined position. The licensed practitioner will mark the treatment areas on your body. During treatment, the SculpSure device is wrapped around you like a belt. Its applicators deliver a 1060-nanometer diode laser that reaches a temperature of between 43°C and 47°C. This is hot enough to kill fat cells underneath the skin while leaving other tissues unharmed. The SculpSure device alternates between delivering a cooling effect and the heat laser. Each treatment takes about 25 minutes. During the procedure, you can relax, read, or nap. During the 12 weeks after the procedure, your body’s lymphatic system naturally flushes out the eliminated fat cells. If you need additional treatments to reach your desired results, they can be done 6-12 weeks or more after the first treatment.
Is Sculpsure right for me?
Similar to other body-contouring procedures, SculpSure is not a weight-loss procedure and is best suited for people close to their ideal body weight. Experts agree that SculpSure is best for patients within 30 pounds of their ideal body weight, or those with a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or less. The ideal subjects should be active and otherwise healthy, but has stubborn areas of fat that no amount of exercise or dieting seems to help.
How many treatments does it take and when will I see reults?
Most patients will see results with only one treatment. However, some patients may wish to have additional treatments based on desired results. Ask your LBC Laser MD consultant about the best treatment plan for you
How long is the downtime before resuming normal activities?
There is no downtime with SculpSure, so you can have the treatment during your lunch hour and return to work immediately.
Does Sculpsure provide Skin tightening?
Skin tightening is not a promoted result of SculpSure, nor is it on the FDA clearances, but some doctors and patients have reported seeing some skin-tightening effects from the treatment. It can vary depending on the condition and area of the patient’s skin being treated. Skin tightening could be an added bonus for some, but it should not be expected. If patients wanted to maximize non-surgical skin tightening, having a series of radiofrequency treatments after SculpSure can have excellent results. It is thought that the heat produced by the SculpSure can have a beneficial effect regarding tightening the skin on some patients.
Double Chin Fat Reduction
What is Double Chin Reduction/Submental fat reduction?
As time goes by, fat can accumulate under the chin, this is called submental fat: ‘mentum’ is Latin for chin, and ‘sub’ means under. The result is commonly referred to as a double chin, and submental fat reduction is becoming a very popular treatment for both women and men.
Is it Painful?
It’s usually well-tolerated, but everyone is different. Think of a hot shower or bath: what is too hot for some people is comfortable for others. The SculpSure body system uses lasers to heat fat and destroy it. As such, there will obviously be sensation of heat that may be uncomfortable to some.
Where does fat under the chin come from?
There are three main factors: your genes, your lifestyle and simple aging, acting alone, or in combination. Your genes and intrinsic and extrinsic ageing are beyond your control, but your lifestyle is very much something you can alter or fine tune, but very sadly, often exercise and dieting are simply not enough to stop fat developing under the chin.
Does the fat ever come back?
We have a fairy constant number of lipocytes, or fat cells, all the time, and when they are gone, they tend to stay away. However, the way the fat cells store the fat you don’t use up in daily living or exercise is to assimilate the lipid into the existing number of cells, which simply get bigger … then, so do you. Bearing this in mind, if you completely disregard your diet and other lifestyle aspects after your contouring session, the fat storage cycle will start all over again in the lipocytes that are left after the procedure, and you will probably need to think about another treatment at some stage … so the moral of this story is clear: with a little effort on your part, the fat will stay away.
Cane exercise and/or dieting help me lose submental fat?
Sadly, not really! There is no exercise that specifically targets the neck muscles and you can’t fit your chin onto a treadmill, or make it lift weights! Dieting and exercise affects your whole body and may result in desirable weight loss and body contouring, but it is still hard to target the fat which quietly and inexorably seems to gather under your chin.
